Peter Thomas Roth Retinol FusionPeter Thomas Roth Retinol Fusion is one of the stronger Retinol Serums on the market.    It has a percentage of 1.5% retinol and is the strongest mass marketed national brands.

I still recommend Beauticontrol Retinol Serum as the best retinol product for most people.  At 0.4%, it is stronger than most mass marketed retinol products and it is plently strong for anyone with normal or sensitive skin.

If you have use retinol for a while with no Retinol Side Effects at all and you feel like you could step it up a bit, you may want to give Retinol Fusion a try.  This is the reason I decided to try it.  As I have written before, I have very thick congested skin.  It is not sensitive at all and I feel like most skin care products are not potent enough.  Mainstream products are made for peope with sensitive to normal skin.  Those of us on the other end of the spectrum are vastly under served.  If you fall on that end, I would definitely recommend this product.

The product is a watery serum (no lotions or creams to clog pores), but it feels like an oil when you are applying it – but it is not oily and it dries with no residue right away.  It is a little pricey – but a bottle will last you a long time.  A really long time.  I takes about 1/4 of a dropper to cover my entire face.  I was delighted how long my first bottle lasted.

I also did see some gradual results as is typical with retinol.   I even tried it under my eyes, which was NOT such a good idea.  If you want to use a retinol product under your eyes, I recommend you stick with Beauticontrol Retinol Capsules - which also contain Peptides.

Like the Beauticontrol retinol serum, it also contains microencapsulated retinol to diminish irritation.  It also contains Vitamins E and C.  It also contains Cyclopentasiloxane which is a type of silicone product that is water thin.  It is what provides the unusual feel of this product (watery but slick).  I think it is also what makes it so easy to apply, enabling a little bit of product to go a long way.

The ingredients are:  Cyclopentasiloxane, Squalane, Retinol, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Tocopherol, Water (aqua), Pentylene Glycol, Polysorbate 20, Lecithin, Bisabolol, Alcohol.

Cyclopentasiloxane is a type of silicone product that is water thin.  It is what provides the unusual feel of this product (watery but slick).  I think it is also what makes it so easy to apply, enabling a little bit of product to go a long way.

Because this is a substantially stronger product, I do not recommend using it if your face is not already accustomed to retinols and I would recommend that you gradually switch to it by alternating it with the product you are already using to give your skin a chance to adjust.    The directions recommend that you use it nightly.  Many times I use it twice a day, but again I have very thick skin that is almost impossible to irritate.

There is also a Retinol Fusion AM for daytime use that has an SPF of 30.  I have not tried it yet, but will probably try it in the future.  Here are the ingredients:

Active Ingredients: Zinc Oxide 2.0%, Octinoxate 7.5%, Octisalate 5.0%, Oxybenzone 4.0%. Inactive Ingredients Water, Glycerin, Isopropyl Myrsitate, Glyceryl Stearate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Squalane, Sodium Cetearyl Sulfate, Phenoxyethanol, Methyl Methacrylate/glycol Dimethacrylate Crosspolymer, Butylene Glycol, Bentonite, Cetearyl Glucoside, Titanium Dioxide, Retinol, Polysorbate 20, Sodium Polyacylate, Xanthan Gum, Bht, Picea Excelsa Wood Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Borate, Sodium Hydroxide, Panthenol, Arginine, Tocopheryl Acetate, Glycine, Copper Tripeptide 1, Sorbitol, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Propyl Gallate, Disodium Edta, Ascorbic Acid.
