MD Forte Glycolic Cleanser is a family of glycolic/AHA cleansers that comes in three different strengths. MD Forte Facial Cleanser I, II and III come with increasing percentages of Glycolic Acid. The company recommends that users start with Cleanser I and work their way up to Cleanser II and then Cleanser III to allow the skin to adjust to the increasing percentages of Glycolic Acid. This is a great idea, unless your skin is already accustomed to Glycolic Acid.

Seriesse Glycolic Cleanser (the official name is Glycolic Essentials Deep Pore Cleanser) is a wonderful Glycolic Cleanser. It is 10% Glycolic Acid and has a pH of 5.0, which means it is effective as a gentle exfoliator. The most important thing to know about this cleanser is that when you add water, it changes the pH and the Glycolic Acid is not as effective. To use it properly it needs to be applied to dry skin with dry hands. You can allow it to sit on the skin for extra exfoliation. What I do is apply the cleanser and let it remain on my face while I brush my teeth. Then I wet my hands and finish washing my face. You can also apply it to your dry face before you get in the shower.

Glycolic Acid Cleanser can be helpful for anyone who has oily skin or problems with clogged pores. However, for Glycolic Acid to be effective it must have a low pH, so when you add water it instantly becomes ineffective. To obtain any benefit from the Glycolic Acid in the cleanser, you must apply it to a dry face and let it sit for a few moments. When you first try this, be prepared for some “tingling”! I love that though cause you think “at least it is working”!
