Philosophy When Hope is not Enough Hyaluronic & Peptide Capsules
December 6, 2008 by Suzanne
Filed under Anti-Aging Skin Care, Most Recent
I am a big fan of using capsules for skin care ingredients. You know the product is fresh, you use the correct amount and you are adding the active ingredient you want without a bunch of other stuff. As someone who breaks out very easily, I can’t layer moisturizing products on my skin.
Philosophy has a new capsule with Hyaluronic Acid & Peptides and it is getting great reviews. It is a bit expensive (let’s hope for a kit soon), but what a terrific way to add these two anti-aging products to your skin care regimen. I am already using and enjoying the philosophy retinol capsules.
This has Pentapeptide, which is the same tpe of peptide found in philosophy When Hope Is Not Enough Serum, philosophy Save Me and philosophy When Hope Is Not Enough SPF 20.
Here are the Ingredients: Dimethicone, Cyclopentasiloxane, Cetearyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Myristoyl Pentapeptide 8, Myristoyl Tetrapeptide 8, Methyl Methacrylate/Glycol Dimethacrylate Crosspolymer, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Butylene Glycol, Hexylene Glycol, Caprylyl Glycol, Phenoxyethanol.
Hyaluronic Acid provides and promotes moisture to the skin. It can draw moisture under the skin and “plump” it out (temporarily). If you are using this product to diminish the apprerance of fine lines and wrinkles, it should be used in the AM before your moisurizer, sunscreen, makeup. The directions from philosophy say to apply it to clean, dry skin.
philosophy says that, according to their study, “100% found the product increased their skin smoothness, 100% found the product increased their skin softness and 75% found that they had a more even skin tone.”
I haven’t tried it yet, but plan to in the near future. If you have tried it, please share your review either in the comments here or at Philosophy Skin Care Reviews.

philosophy’s new Hope In a Jar with SPF 20
July 15, 2008 by Suzanne

philosophy has a new “hope”product – is a Hope in a Jar with spf. I think this IS a wonderful product for people who love their Hope in a Jar. Now they can use it in the daytime without having to ad an additional sunscreen.
This is what philosophy says about Hope in a Jar spf 20:
Give your skin the drink of water it’s thirsty for while protecting it from the harmful effects of the sun with Philosophy Hope in a Jar SPF 20. Hope in a Jar high-performance moisturizer with SPF 20 hydrates the skin, provides a gentle exfoliation, and helps improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, texture, and tone. This multi-tasking moisturizer helps prevent further sun-damage with multiple antioxidants and broad spectrum sun protection while inspiring a healthy, rosy glow.
The active sunscreen ingredients are: Avobenzone (3.00%), Homosalate (3.00%), Octisalate (5.00%), Octocrylene (2.75%), Oxybenzone (4.00%). It is a broad spectrum spf that will protect against UVA & UVB rays. My bigggest concern about using this as a sunscreen is that most people do not apply enough for it to be a truly effective sunscreen – so if you are using it as you only sun protection – be sure and don’t scrimp when you apply it!
Have you tried it? If so, please share your Hope in a Jar spf 20 review!

philosophy’s New Foaming Purity Made Simple Cleanser
July 12, 2008 by Suzanne
I use purity made simple every single night in the shower. I love it because it easily removes all of my makeup – even waterproof mascara – and leaves my face very clean, but not stripped or dried out. When I first started using it, I had to get used to it because it doesn’t foam. It lathers a bit when you add water, but no foam.
I guess the non-foaming thing turned some people off, because philosophy now has a foaming purity made simple. (Why mess with a good thing? sigh.)
The info from philosophy says it just like the original – it just foams. Personally, I have a problem beliving that a “highly foaming” cleanser can wash off my waterproof mascara and not irritate my eyes. But not everyone uses it to remove eye makeup and I do know some prefer a facial cleanser that foams. So, I am anxiuosly awaiting the reviews! If you have tried it, please review it for us! philosophy On a Clear Day & MD Forte Glycare Perfection Gel
March 17, 2008 by Suzanne

I have been using Philosophy On A Clear Day Blemish Serum
off & on for a while now. I started using it because I wanted to add a glycolic acid serum to my regimen. After I used up the first bottle, I didn’t think it had really done anything for my skin so I decided not to repurchase. However, my face started breaking out after I stopped using it – so I reluctantly shelled out $30 for another bottle and have since repeated this pattern several times. Using the serum all over my face, I go through it rather quickly and when I stop using it I start getting breakouts.
This happened again recently & I decided to look for another product. I searched for a stronger glycolic acid serum to use, hoping for more visible results in addition to preventing breakouts. I was looking for a 10% or 15% glycolic acid serum (one of my complaints is that philosophy doesn’t give the percentage of glycolic acid in on a clear day) and I found & decided to try M.D. Forte Skin Rejuvenation Lotion III – which has an impressive 30% glycolic acid along with Rentinol and other anti-oxidants. I am sitting on my hands wanting to write a glowing reviw – but I have only been using it for about 10 days & I want to use it for at least month before I write a review. (Suffice it to say for now that I have more MD Forte products on the way!)

Anyway, when I was researching MD Forte, I came across M.D. Forte Glycare Perfection Gel
and realized that it would be a great alternative to On a Clear Day. It has 1% Salicylic Acid and 5% Glycolic Compound (I appreciate that they give their percentages) and it is $21.60 for 1.7 ounces, versus $30 for 1.0 ounce for On a Clear Day! I would also think that because it is a gel versus a thin liquid, it would be easier to apply less product and therefore last longer. To me it looks like a much less expensive alternative.
