The official name of Neutrogena Tinted Moisturizer is Neutrogena Healthy Skin Enhancer and it is one product that I purchase and use year after year, especially in the warmer months – but I do use it year round. It replaces moisturizer, sunscreen, primer and a daytime retinol product.

I decided to try Beauticontrol Retinol Serum after reading so many positive reviews, especially from industry experts. I have been using it for about a month, I am seeing a big improvement in my skin – especially in my pore size – my pores have gone from enlarged to invisible. I have also had clogged or congested pores around my mouth & chin and they are slowly opening and clearing up.

I have researched dozens (feels like hundreds) of the top rated retinol products – the ingredients, user and industry expert reviews. I have personally tried most of them for extended periods of time. Here are my top 3 recommendations:
|
![]() Alpha Hydrox Retinol ResQ $15 |
Beauticontrol Regeneration Overnight Retinol Recovery Serum $45 |
![]() Prescriptives Skin Renewal Cream $60 |
![]() |
0.15% Retinol, Vitamin C, Vitamin E and an anti-irritant |
0.4% Retinol, Vitamin E, Watermelon Fruit Extract, Algae Extract, Green Tea Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Allantoin, Squalane | Retinol, Peptides, Soy Protein, St. Paul’s Wort, Mulberry & Grape Extracts, Vitamin E, Squalane |
| Alpha Hydrox Retinol ResQ is a great inexpensive retinol, arguably the best of the inexpensive retinol products. Because it is a thick cream, it is best for normal to dry skin that is not prone to acne or blemishes. This is almost identical to as philosophy’s help me & Natural Advantage by Jane Seymour except this one has added Vitamin A & C & is one-third of the price! | This is the product I am currently using. I have oiler acne prone skin with congested pores – this is a silky lightweight serum that I prefer to the heavier creams. The retinol is also “encapsulated” – which means i is time-released and hopefully stays active on the skin for a longer period of time. I really prefer this to all the other creams and serums that I have tried. | This is a thicker cream that is best for normal to dry skin – it can also replace a moisturizer unless you have extremely dry skin. This is also micro-encapsulated – I do not know the retinol percentage, but it is very highly rated by users and industry experts. | |

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Enhancer Tinted Moisturizer SPF Review

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Enhancer Tinted Moisturizer is one of my favorite multi-tasking products. I have been using it almost everyday this summer – it replaces moisturizer, sunscreen, primer and a retinol product. I have oiler skin and live in the humid south, so I don’t have much need for a moisturizer – this is a very light moisturizer and it provides a sheer color. I wear Medium in everything and the color number 40 (neutral to tan) is a perfect match for me. It has an SPF of 20 and provides a broad spectrum of sun protection. Plus it has the added bonus of Retinol without having to add another product.
I breakout very easily – especially from moisturizers, I have used this off and on for years and have never had a breakout that I attributed to this. I cannot wear makeup primer (they all break me out) and I love using this under my foundation – it even outs my skin tone and provides a good base for my other makeup.
If you have drier skin and need to add moisture, this may not need your product. Otherwise it is a great one (with a good price!) to try.
