Beauticontrol Retinol Serum

I decided to try Beauticontrol Retinol Serum after reading so many positive reviews, especially from industry experts. I have been using it for about a month, I am seeing a big improvement in my skin – especially in my pore size – my pores have gone from enlarged to invisible. I have also had clogged or congested pores around my mouth & chin and they are slowly opening and clearing up.

Retinol Products, Best Retinol Products

I have researched dozens (feels like hundreds) of the top rated retinol products – the ingredients, user and industry expert reviews. I have personally tried most of them for extended periods of time. Here are my top 3 recommendations:
|
![]() Alpha Hydrox Retinol ResQ $15 |
Beauticontrol Regeneration Overnight Retinol Recovery Serum $45 |
![]() Prescriptives Skin Renewal Cream $60 |
![]() |
0.15% Retinol, Vitamin C, Vitamin E and an anti-irritant |
0.4% Retinol, Vitamin E, Watermelon Fruit Extract, Algae Extract, Green Tea Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Allantoin, Squalane | Retinol, Peptides, Soy Protein, St. Paul’s Wort, Mulberry & Grape Extracts, Vitamin E, Squalane |
| Alpha Hydrox Retinol ResQ is a great inexpensive retinol, arguably the best of the inexpensive retinol products. Because it is a thick cream, it is best for normal to dry skin that is not prone to acne or blemishes. This is almost identical to as philosophy’s help me & Natural Advantage by Jane Seymour except this one has added Vitamin A & C & is one-third of the price! | This is the product I am currently using. I have oiler acne prone skin with congested pores – this is a silky lightweight serum that I prefer to the heavier creams. The retinol is also “encapsulated” – which means i is time-released and hopefully stays active on the skin for a longer period of time. I really prefer this to all the other creams and serums that I have tried. | This is a thicker cream that is best for normal to dry skin – it can also replace a moisturizer unless you have extremely dry skin. This is also micro-encapsulated – I do not know the retinol percentage, but it is very highly rated by users and industry experts. | |

Serious Skin Care Glycolic Cleanser Review
Serious Skin Care Glycolic Cleanser is near the top of my very short list of great cleansers. It is strong enough to be effective, but not so strong that it dries out or irritates your face. This is a great choice if you have adult acne, blackheads or congested pores. The effectiveness of the product is due to the glycolic acid, which has a low pH and in inactivated by water. To use, rub the cleanser all aover you face and let sit for a few moments, then add water and rinse off.

Signature Club A Meltdown Cream Cleanser Review
Signature Club A’s Meltdown Cream Cleansers are by far the most popular SCA products. The meltdowns have been around for a very long time – back to the Adrien Arpel line days. I remember going for an Adrien Arpel facial in the mid-1980s. I remember the Coconut meltdown they used to remove my makeup. I have been hooked ever since and I always have a Coconut meltdown in my stash.
You can use the meltdowns in two ways, either to remove makeup or as a tissue off facial cleanser. I use it to remove my makeup and follow with a regular cleanser, but people with drier skin can use it as their cleanser, just smooth it on and remove with a tissue or damp washcloth.
In addition to doing a wonderful job of cleaning your face completely, meltdowns also smell wonderful! My favorite is the coconut, but I also love the peach. The other fragrances smell wonderful as well. The fragrance does not linger after you take it off, but it is really nice while you are using the product.

Anti-Aging Body Care: Avon Skin So Soft Age-Defying Neck and Chest Treatment Review
November 11, 2008 by Suzanne
Filed under Anti-Aging Skin Care, Most Recent, Skin Care Reviews, Sunscreen
I have been using the Avon Skin So Soft Age-Defying Body Products and so far am very impressed. There are four products in the line – a shower gel, a hand cream, a body lotion and a neck and chest cream with sunscreen.

SKIN SO SOFT Renew & Refresh Age-Defying+ Corrective Neck & Chest Treatment SPF 15 – New Packaging
– I am really impressed with the neck and chest (decollete) cream. I have not done a good job of taking care of my chest – especially in the sunscreen department. I use it religiously on my face everyday and now thanks to this I am using it on my chest area as well. I adore and use Dr. Denese’s HydroSeal Hand and Decollete Serum on my chest at night and now am using this every morning. The two products have made an amazing difference in my lower neck/decollette area. The cream has a broad spectrum SPF of 15. Avon says it: “Begins working instantly and, over time, reduces the appearance of age spots, fine lines and wrinkles caused by sun damage.” I don’t have any visible sun damage, but I have had a life time of exposure and I am hoping that in addition to preventing further exposure, this product will help to diminish the damage that may have been done before it becomes visible. I knoe Avon is notorious for changing and discontinuing products, but I hope this one stays around – I hope to be able to use it for a very long time. The regular price Is $12 for 3.4 ounces. It is in a closed bottle with a pump dispenser – so all of the valuable products on the inside are protected.

Avon MagiX Face Perfector with SPF Review
October 28, 2008 by Suzanne
Filed under Most Recent, Skin Care Reviews, Sunscreen

Avon has a new product called MagiX Face Perfector. It is a clear gel that turns into a light powder-like finish after you apply it. It is similiar to a “clear makeup”, but can also be used as a makeup primer. It has an SPF of 20.
I have been using this for a few days now and I really like it. It did minimize the apperance of pores and fine lines under the eyes. It does have a soft powdery finish – it makes a great primer. Any primer I have ever tried causes me to breakout – this one has not so far. I am going to keep using it and see if I can use it daily without breakouts.
I think it would make a very good makeup primer or sunscreen for anyone with normal to oily skin. It is also an alternative to foundation – it will tone down shine, minimize the apperance of pores and fine lines.
Magix is getting rave reviews all over. The regular price is $10 for a one ounce tube.

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Enhancer Tinted Moisturizer SPF Review
August 27, 2008 by Suzanne
Filed under Anti-Aging Skin Care, Sunscreen

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Enhancer Tinted Moisturizer is one of my favorite multi-tasking products. I have been using it almost everyday this summer – it replaces moisturizer, sunscreen, primer and a retinol product. I have oiler skin and live in the humid south, so I don’t have much need for a moisturizer – this is a very light moisturizer and it provides a sheer color. I wear Medium in everything and the color number 40 (neutral to tan) is a perfect match for me. It has an SPF of 20 and provides a broad spectrum of sun protection. Plus it has the added bonus of Retinol without having to add another product.
I breakout very easily – especially from moisturizers, I have used this off and on for years and have never had a breakout that I attributed to this. I cannot wear makeup primer (they all break me out) and I love using this under my foundation – it even outs my skin tone and provides a good base for my other makeup.
If you have drier skin and need to add moisture, this may not need your product. Otherwise it is a great one (with a good price!) to try.
